Day 3 | Habit of a Quiet Time

James 4:8 "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you."

OBSERVATION

In today's world, distractions are everywhere. Social media, sports, school, friends, and busy schedules are constantly competing for our attention. One of the greatest threats to our spiritual health is being so distracted that we forget to slow down and spend time with God. How do we combat this? Committing to quiet time. Quiet time is a daily personal appointment with God where we intentionally step away from distractions to meet with him. It doesn't have to be perfect; it just needs to be intentional. Quiet time with God changes you. It's essential for deepening your faith and building a real relationship with Him. James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." The verse is simple but powerful. When we choose to move toward God, He always meets us where we are. He never ignores our pursuit of Him. So how do we make drawing near to God a habit? By making intentional quiet time a priority. Drawing near to God doesn't happen by accident, it happens intentionally. Building a consistent quiet time can look like carving out moments in your day to read Scripture, pray, worship, and spend time in His presence. These moments help us build habits that will sustain our spiritual health, strengthen us, and help us grow. Growth doesn't happen overnight, but every day you keep showing up matters. Keep showing up so you can keep growing up! Some days your quiet time may feel powerful, and some days it might feel ordinary. Some days you may get distracted or forget. Don't quit. Quiet time isn't about being perfect, it's about faithfully showing up and creating a daily pause to grow in Him. As we draw near to Him, He faithfully draws near to us.

APPLICATION

Set aside 10 minutes each day this week. Put your phone down, open your Bible, pray, and spend intentional time with God. Start small and stay consistent.

PRAYER

"God, help me to intentionally draw near to You every day and make time with You a priority in my life. Remove distractions, shape my heart, and help me grow closer to You as I spend time in Your presence. Amen."
