Day 19 | The Power of Thoughts
Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
OBSERVATION
Thoughts are powerful. Proverbs 23:7 says, “as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (NKJV). What we think about and dwell on, has an effect on our life. You cannot separate the things you think about, from the direction your life actually takes. Our verse today tells us that we shouldn’t follow the patterns of this world but to instead allow God to transform us by renewing our minds. God wants to “transform” us by changing the way we think. How does this work? Here’s a simple way to look at it: INPUT DETERMINES OUTPUT. What I’m putting IN my MIND will determine what is coming OUT of my MIND. If I’m filling my mind with positive, life changing things like: God’s Word, Worship, Prayer - the results will be radical transformation in a GOOD WAY. On the flip side if I’m filling my mind with things that are NOT good, the results will be radical transformation in a bad way. Make the choice today, to allow God to do the transforming!
APPLICATION
Think about this today:
What things/influences am I allowing to enter my mind?
Are they positive or negative?
Do they draw me closer to God or drive me further from Him?
What changes to I need to make to renew my mind?
PRAYER
God I don’t want to follow the patterns of this fallen world. I know that you have way more to offer than the brokenness I see in the world today. Help me learn how to fill my mind with your thoughts and your ways. I choose your patterns God. I want to be transformed by you, in Jesus name I pray, amen.
