Day 4 | The God who is Jealous for You
Exodus 34:14 (NLT)
“You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.”
OBSERVATION
Often we view jealousy from a negative perspective. But did you know there is a jealousy that is actually healthy and positive? As Exodus 34:14 states, God is jealous about his relationship with YOU! What a powerful thought, that God, the creator of the universe is jealous about you.
He’s jealous of your habits, your attention, your focus, your dreams, your desires. Not in a bad way. Not because He’s petty. Not because He’s insecure. No. He’s jealous in a good way. His jealousy is birthed out of the great love that He has for us. A love that is actually beyond what we can even imagine (Ephesians 3:18). God’s jealousy is good for us. Here’s another thing he’s jealous over: Your time. Another way to spell “LOVE” is: “TIME”. We spend time with and on the things we love most. Learning to take TIME each day to spend with God is one of the healthiest habits you can ever develop. As you learn to develop a “quiet time” with God, what you’re doing is laying aside everything else (hobbies, relationships, social media, etc.) and saying: “God this time is for you.”
APPLICATION
Making time for God is one of the healthiest habits you can create. Just like you’ve done today, make a decision to devote time just for God each day.
